This article examines how searching an online image archive and its metadata in an can be incredibly limited - and may even yield incorrect results - due to the lack of information on how the image was created as well as deeper details about the image itself. It argues that image archives are incredibly important for cultural history, but the limitations can make it difficult to fully rely on.
